Hartsfield the Airport Kitty Lands at Furkids
Hartsfield was dumped by his previous owners, left to fend for himself by the airport with scary planes and noises all day every day. His condition was the worst we have seen in a very long time. Once we were able to calm him down and rescue the poor fellow, he had to be sedated to shave his fur and mats just to run bloodwork. Hartsfieldis at least 10 years old, has a mouth tumor and no teeth. Upon rescue he weighed only six pounds! He had been living out on his own for a long time surviving the elements. Hartsfield really wanted to speak to you and tell you his story and struggle:
Hello to my friends and legions of fans. I can hardly believe my good fortune - before I met you, the onlylegions I had were fleas. My mouth hurt. Even when I found food, I couldn't eat it. People chased me, and I thought all humans were mean. I was able to survive, barely, for years at the airport. The dumpsters has amazing cuisine when it was available. Recently, I found myself in a TRAP, and I knew it was all over. The humans shaved me. They stuck needles in me. Poked me all over. I resigned myself to more torture...
But something weird happened. People talked softly to me. They stroked my sore body. They gave me magic pills that made me feel better, and one day I woke up FREE! Free of all those painful teeth! I could eat again!
Hartsfield is now recovering and resting in a wonderful foster home. She had this to say about him, "Hartsfield is skinny and scared times three. He acts like an animal who is expecting the worst from any encounter with people. He is eating like a starving kitten (which makes me very happy). He drools constantly (because of the mouth surgery) and sleeps most of the day. However, when I am with him, petting him and scratching his chin, he has the biggest purr ever. This guy has a long way to go and I will be with him on his journey. This is an amazing cat!"
Your support allows us to save Hartsfield and 2,000 other cats and dogs like him each year. We run solely on in-kind donations. Any and every dollar helps. Make a donation today.
