Junie was Broken, but Now has a Home!

Posted on Thursday, February 27th

Junie was Broken, but Now has a Home! Sweet Junie was found abandoned, lying on the side of the road and shivering in the rain. It was clear that she had given up on trying to make it. Her rescuers picked her up and tried to see if she could stand, and she couldn’t. X-rays confirmed both of Junie’s hind legs were broken. One was so badly injured it had to be amputated, and veterinarians where concerned her remaining hind leg might have nerve damage so extensive it might never be functional. But through Junie’s unbreakable will and the care of our medical team, she made an amazing recovery. Home is a Furever Commitment Celebrating Our 18th Anniversary of Commitment to Saving Lives Yesterday, we ran into a particularly heroic Furkids adopter, Christy T. In May of last year, Christy adopted the one cat that had been with Furkids longer than any other animal in our 18-year history. She adopted Confetti, who had come to Furkids in 2004, and been with us for over 14 years! Confetti came to Furkids when she was only two. Over the years, she was adopted and then returned several times due to some potty habits that are difficult for anyone to cope with. It broke our hearts to see her… READ MORE >

Home for the Holidays - A Big Year for Furkids As 2019 winds down, we can't help but feel blessed and thrilled for the progress Furkids has made just this year alone, thanks, in part, to you. We have saved more than 4,100 cats and dogs to date - that's 757 more than we did at this point in 2018. Each one has a unique story – a broken heart, a devastating injury, a fear of pain or hunger when Furkids changes their lives. With your help, we have managed to not only just save these souls, but to have healed them, inside and out, and found loving homes for them. That is our mission, and I… READ MORE >

Posted on Sunday, November 24th

Furkids Shine at 2019 Cotton States Cat Show Did you know that Furkids has award-winning cats available for adoption? Yes, some of our rescue kitties are Cotton States Cat Show award winners! Our volunteer team entered six current Furkids and three adopted Furkids in the Household Division at the Cotton States Cat show recently, and all six of our Fur-Kitties made the finals in at least one ring. Two even made the finals in seven out of eight judgings! The Household Division is a difficult one to judge. There are no set standards so the eight judges simply evaluate each cat on cleanliness, fitness, and purrsonality. In addition,… READ MORE >
