Pet Adoptions on the Rise During Coronavirus Outbreak By Justin Felder, Fox 5 Atlanta Pet adoptions in our area are on the rise, demonstrated by a very busy time at Furkids, an animal rescue and shelter in Alpharetta. As of Thursday morning, they've already had 29 adoptions in the month of April, well ahead of their normal pace. Junie was Broken, but Now has a Home! Tiny Kitten Junie was found abandoned, lying on the side of the road and shivering in the rain. It was clear that she had given up on trying to make it. Her rescuers picked her up and tried to see if she could stand, and she couldn’t. X-rays confirmed both of Junie’s hind legs were broken. One was so badly injured it had to be amputated, and veterinarians where concerned her remaining hind leg might have nerve damage so extensive it might never be functional. But through Junie’s unbreakable will and the care of our medical team, she made an amazing recovery. Home is a Furever Commitment Celebrating Our 18th Anniversary of Commitment to Saving Lives Yesterday, we ran into a particularly heroic Furkids adopter, Christy T. In May of last year, Christy adopted the one cat that had been with Furkids longer than any other animal in our 18-year history. She adopted Confetti, who had come to Furkids in 2004, and been with us for over 14 years! Confetti came to Furkids when she was only two.
