BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters | May 5-9 Join Furkids for the largest Empty the Shelters event to date! From May 5-9, BISSELL Pet Foundation will sponsor reduced cat and dog adoption fees at 200 shelter organizations in 36 states. *Adopt cats or kittens for $25! Seniors (10+ yrs) and FIV/FeLV+ are always FREE!* *$25 adoption fee applies to dogs who are over 30 lbs & those who have been in the Furkids program for over 60 days. A Year of Hope As we wrap up our 19th Anniversary and this year’s theme of HOPE, we want to take a moment and share some heartwarming examples of Furkids in action regarding the animal ~and human~ lives we’ve changed in the last year. Furkids is fiercely determined to change the course of animals’ lives who are abused, homeless, neglected and sick, and to bring hope to what were once hopeless lives as well. Saving Heartworm Positive Dogs One Day at a Time The Furkids Dog Shelter is experiencing a spike in heartworm positive cases with more than 50% of the dogs in our program testing positive, like Tiger P!  At Furkids, we are intent on rescuing animals who have specific medical needs and providing educational tools + research to our community, because every life matters to us! Heartworm treatment is expensive, difficult, and time-consuming but it is also very treatable. What is heartworm disease?
