Our 15th Annual Paws for Cocktails Celebration Was a Night of Heart and Hope

This past Saturday, the Furkids family came together for one of our favorite nights of the year — our 15th Annual Paws for Cocktails celebration! More than 450 guests joined us at our beautiful Furkids Headquarters Campus in Cumming, where compassion, community, and love for animals filled the air.

Guests enjoyed live music from the Lance Price Band, an open bar, and delicious food catered by Affairs to Remember, while bidding on exciting silent and live auction items — all in support of Furkids’ lifesaving mission. And in a heartwarming twist, one of our guests even went home with a new best friend  a sweet Pomeranian adopted during the event!

The evening was filled with meaningful moments, including heartfelt remarks from Furkids Founder and CEO, Samantha Shelton, who addressed the crowd with an emotional reflection on the tragic transport accident that occurred on October 13. During her speech, she expressed the organization’s deep sorrow for the lives lost and gratitude for the outpouring of compassion from the community.

Joining her on stage was Mike Rullan, the driver of the Furkids van involved in the accident, who shared his personal experience from that day. Guests also had the opportunity to applaud and thank the Furkids first responders whose quick actions helped save cats from the wreckage. Their bravery and resilience embody the very heart of Furkids’ mission.

Funds raised during Paws for Cocktails will help replace the destroyed transport van and continue supporting Furkids’ rescue, medical, and rehabilitation programs that give thousands of animals a second chance each year.

Sneak Peeks and Special Guests

Attendees were treated to exclusive sneak peeks of our two exciting new facilities — the Sutherlin Dog Shelter and the Giaquinto Medical Center, both opening in just a few short months. These expansions will dramatically increase Furkids’ ability to provide medical care, rescue, and shelter for animals in need.

We were also honored to welcome some wonderful special guests: James Dean, creator of Pete the Cat, and Kaedy Kiely, beloved radio personality from 97.1 The River, who both lent their support to the cause.

A Celebration of Love and Second Chances

As Samantha shared that night, “This event always brings our community together, but this year, the unity and love we felt were truly extraordinary. It was a reminder of why Furkids exists — to bring hope, healing, and second chances to those who need it most.”

From the laughter, music, and dancing to the tears of shared compassion, this year’s Paws for Cocktails was a reminder of what’s possible when a community comes together for a purpose bigger than ourselves.

We’re endlessly grateful to everyone who attended, donated, volunteered, or cheered us on from afar. Together, we’re building a brighter future for Georgia’s homeless animals - one filled with love, safety, and second chances.
