Furkid’s Foster Nationally Recognized by Petco Foundation

Susan Struble, a foster volunteer at Furkids has been recognized as one of 22 National Foster Heroes by the Petco Foundation and BOBS from Skechers in celebration of National Foster a Pet Month in June. We are so proud of this amazing woman for her incredible commitment to saving some of the most fragile lives that come into Furkids. Over 1,200 pets have her to thank for being alive today!

In 2013, Susan Struble and her family went to Furkids for a fun day socializing with the cats. Seven years later, Susan has fostered over 1,200 cats and kittens, becoming a true hero to us at Furkids. Susan doesn’t just foster cats and kittens, she focuses on medical cases that need extra care. She has been instrumental in Furkids' efforts to save even the most seriously injured and ill animals. Susan has helped pull off miracles, including 24/7 caregiving that saved 10 of 11 kittens with panleukopenia; and rehabilitating Lucky G, by teaching him to walk again after a broken hip and months of therapy.

Susan’s efforts don’t stop there. Once her fosters are ready, she works to find them the perfect loving home through the Furkids satellite adoption center. She has worked to build referrals and awareness of the center, taking it from 1-2 adoptions per month to as many as 15 in one week. On top of all that, Susan is out in the field, helping TNR countless cats, and bringing them into the Furkids program when possible. In short, Susan is a miracle worker, and Furkids is grateful for every day that she dedicates to our lifesaving efforts.

For stepping up and saving animal lives in Atlanta, Susan is receiving a prize pack including BOBS from Skechers shoes and her incredible lifesaving work is being honored along with her National Foster Hero peers on petcofoundation.org. She also received a surprise thank you visit from Furkids CEO and Founder Samantha Shelton and the Furkids team, complete with balloons, a gift card and a lawn sign recognizing her home as a Furkids foster home.

Congratulations Susan, this recognition is so well deserved! And many thanks to Petco Foundation for celebrating fosters across the nation! Furkids couldn't save all the lives we do without these important partners!
