Furkids Brainchild 15th Anniversary
This week is incredibly special to all of us at Furkids. It was on October 11, 15 years ago that Samantha Shelton found a mother cat and her three kittens in her back yard. Samantha looked for a no-kill animal shelter to take them in but none had room. She soon found Friends of Animals and started volunteering with them to find homes for the kittens and mom. Just a few months later, Samantha began a foster-based animal rescue organization out of her own home. What started out as a mission to help four homeless animals, quickly became the largest cage-free, no-kill animal shelter in Georgia. Today, Furkids is blessed to have the help of 1,000 active volunteers, 33 employees, and celebrates over 20,000 animals saved. See the Furkids timeline here.
We are incredibly grateful to our founder and leader, Samantha Shelton, for her tireless commitment and her vision that continues to grow Furkids. Our important milestone is about you as much as it is about our humble beginnings. We have been able to grow and care for thousands of animals each year because of your amazing love and support. Thank you so much for your helping hands which have made this organization what it is today.
