Fireworks and our Furry Friends

Independence Day is almost here, and we all know that means cookouts, family fun and most of all, fireworks! While fireworks are a fun and beautiful way to celebrate for humans, they can be stressful and frightening for animals. More animals are reported missing after the 4th of July than at any other point during the year.  In fact, July 5 is the busiest shelter intake day, which is why it is imperative to make sure that your animals are secure. When your pet hears the loud, explosive “POP” from a firework, they may run away to seek shelter.

It is usually best to leave Fido at home during firework displays. Microchips are especially important as they make it simple for a vet, shelter, or other pet care facility to scan your lost pet for information. Always keep your pet’s microchip information up-to-date!

Furkids wishes you a Happy Independence Day and ask that you stay safe this weekend!
