CAN YOU DO THE MATH?

February is Prevent a Litter Month; do you know how many descendants a pair of cats or dogs can generate?  The numbers are astounding

A single pair of dogs, over the course of six years, can create 67,000 descendants.

A single pair of cats, over the course of seven years, can create 420,000 descendants.

In the South, cats and dogs may have 3-4 litters a year, due to the warmer weather and lack of legislation regarding spay/neuter programs. Kittens as young as five months may become pregnant.  Furkids welcomes elementary, middle, high school, college and adult groups to the shelters every week and while there, we promote and educate the visitors about the overwhelming need for spaying and neutering. to reduce the volume of animals reproducing.
