Adoption Success Story: Sasha

It has been a long journey home for Sasha, but she is finally there! Sasha was originally rescued by volunteers in December 2012. She was living on a ripped up mattress pad behind an abandoned grocery store scared and alone.

Furkids and SmallDog Rescue does not generally take in pit bulls, our foster homes and facility are geared toward small dogs; how could we leave her?

Luckily we were able to find an amazing, devoted foster home for Sasha, Lindsey Muth. Lindsey has devoted the last 10 months to training Sasha, loving her, socializing her with other dogs and searching far and wide for a forever home. In 10 months not a single application came through on Sasha. Every week was a disappointment and sad reality of the public's perception of this breed.

Sasha is a fantastic ambassador for the breed! She loves to play with other dogs, including the 8 foster brothers and sisters she had during her time with Lindsey and the dogs at Best Little Dog House in GA where she often would play. Sasha is great with kids, she even attended the March of Dimes walk and visited with tons of small children. Yet, no one would even consider her. Until last week...

It was a bitter sweet moment for our team when an application came in on Sasha. Not only was it her first application, but it was a GREAT one! A former pit bull owner that took fantastic care of her past pets was looking for a companion. This was Sasha's moment! Pictured right is Sasha with her new mommy. We could not me more excited for her and the new journey she is about to embark. With donations from people like you these rescues are possible Please consider giving toward dogs like Sasha now!
