Advocate For Our Dogs

October is ADOPT A SHELTER DOG MONTH!

Furkids has already found 30 dogs homes this month, even for some "harder to place" dogs like Trooper. Trooper was found starving to death, 

left in a crate in the middle of a busy road. Because of this traumatic experience, he had exhibited some behavior that turned potential adopters off, but what those people didn't know was that he was just acting out because he was terrified. 

These "hard to place" dogs are animals that have been in our program for some time and have special circumstances that the average adopter may not be interested in accommodating, or they are dogs that don't show well in a kennel. Animals thrive when they are placed in homes that suit their needs. 

We are asking for help advocating for these dogs. We know that perfect homes are out there waiting for these dogs, but we have to be the voices of these animals in order to find them. Please be a champion for these dogs. Create or share posts on social media, foster,...

Dog Shelter Manager
Our Shelter Managers are key members of our team, responsible for guaranteeing the humane treatment of animals, overseeing facility and equipment maintenance, inventory, budgets and supervising shelter staff. Shelter Managers are also responsible for customer service duties, including all Shelter staff interactions with volunteers, foster and adoption families, and the public at large. Though our Shelter Manager duties are largely administrative, Shelter Managers may be required to directly interact with the animals in the Shelter’s care while assisting other staff or volunteers. Furkids placed 169 cats and dogs in loving homes during February 2015. Below is a list of everyone that was adopted. Congratulations to the new families! While we celebrate these adoptions, remember we still have hundreds waiting in the wings to be adopted. Please remember that both our Doraville Cat Shelter and Alpharetta Dog Shelter are open three days a week for visitors. BOTH ARE OPEN WEDNESDAYS AND SATURDAYS! Check out our hours and locations.
