Meet Valley! Valley is a sweet 1-year-old French Bulldog with a fun personality and lots of playful energy. He enjoys the company of other dogs and loves getting out there and having fun. Valley is deaf and will thrive with a family who understands his unique needs and is ready to give him the patience, guidance, and love he deserves. Valley does well with other dogs, but he is a dominant, hard-playing kind of guy. He can get very excited during playtime and tends to be a little mouthy when he plays. Because of his rough-and-tumble play style, Valley is not recommended for a home with small children. He would do best with an adopter who understands dog body language and can help him learn appropriate play manners while giving him plenty of positive outlets for his energy. As a French Bulldog, Valley will benefit from a family who understands the breed’s unique needs. Frenchies are affectionate, social, and often wonderfully entertaining companions, but they can be prone to breathing difficulties, overheating, skin and allergy issues, and other health concerns. Valley will need to be kept cool, monitored carefully during exercise, and provided with routine veterinary care. Because Valley is deaf, his family will need to communicate with him through hand signals, visual cues, touch, and positive reinforcement rather than verbal commands. Deaf dogs can learn just as much as hearing dogs, but they need consistent communication and a little extra awareness for safety. His adopter should take care not to startle him, especially while he is sleeping, and should use a leash or securely fenced area outdoors since he cannot hear cars, people, or other potential hazards. Valley is looking for a family who will appreciate his unique personality, embrace his deafness, and give him the structure, patience, exercise, and love he deserves.
