Ruby.. who loves to be called Ruby Roo… is a 1.5 year old Pit Bull mix who is looking for an experienced adopter willing to help her build confidence and continue her positive-reinforcement training. Ruby can be apprehensive around new people at first, but once she feels comfortable, she is an incredibly loving, playful girl. She absolutely loves baby talk, toys, treats, and being called “Ruby Roo”…just say her nickname and watch her light up and get wonderfully wiggly! When meeting new people, Ruby does best in a larger space with plenty of movement. Keeping her moving, offering lots of encouragement, and using treats helps her feel more comfortable. She may lunge or bark when someone is nervous or uncertain around her, so she needs someone who understands her communication and is willing to patiently help her gain confidence. The good news is that Ruby is not possessive of food or toys, so treats and toys can be incorporated into positive new interactions. She responds very well to positive reinforcement. Ruby gets along great with other dogs, has participated in multiple doggie play groups, and has previously attended daycare and done well. Ruby would do best with an experienced owner who is committed to continuing positive behavior training. Because of her sensitivity around unfamiliar people, her home should have no small children, requiring an adult only home.
