A foster-to-adopt option is available for me, giving us the chance to get to know each other before making it official! Meet Clyde! Clyde is a sweet, smart, and endlessly affectionate Belgian Malinois who hasn’t let anything slow him down—not even becoming a “tripod” after losing his front left leg. As far as Clyde is concerned, he’s just like any other dog—ready to run, play, wrestle, and soak up all the love he can get (especially during his favorite “snuggle time”). This curious boy has lots of energy and will thrive in an active home that can keep both his body and mind engaged. He absolutely loves toys and playtime, and like many Malinois, he can be a bit mouthy and sometimes forget just how big he is. Clyde is still working on his manners and can act like a toddler in a dog’s body, so he’ll need a patient, experienced owner committed to continuing his training and helping him grow into his best self. Clyde is crate trained, sleeps soundly through the night, and already knows some basic commands. He does have some resource guarding tendencies with food and toys, so he’ll need a confident, experienced handler who can manage and continue working on those behaviors. Because of this—and his energetic, sometimes bouncy personality—an adult-only home without small children would be the best fit. His ideal family will also be mindful of his long-term joint health, ensuring his remaining front leg stays strong and supported for years to come. Due to his prey drive we would not recommend a home with other smaller pets present but does get a long with similar size dogs. Clyde currently weighs about 45lbs., is approximately 1 years old (est. birth date 11/07/2024), and his adoption fee is $185. Clyde has been neutered, is up to date on all vaccinations & preventatives, and is microchipped.
