Don’t let his sad story fool you — Bernard is one happy pup with an even happier heart! This boy is the definition of a Velcro dog — wherever you are, that’s exactly where he wants to be. Bernard is a professional cuddler, an expert in full-body hugs, and a master at making humans feel loved. His sweet spirit carried him through some tough times: when rescued he was terribly underweight and so dehydrated that one of his eyes was damaged beyond repair. But none of that dimmed his light! Bernard’s joyful, affectionate personality shines brighter than ever. He absolutely adores people and gets along great with other dogs, he’d enjoy a canine companion but would be equally thrilled to have all the snuggles to himself. At about 45 pounds, Bernard is housebroken, crate trained, and the perfect mix of playful explorer and couch companion. His favorite activities include cuddling, exploring the yard, cuddling, chewing on his toys, and - you guessed it - cuddling! Bernard weighs 45lbs and is approximately 6 years old (est. birth date 08/20/2019). Bernard has been neutered, is up to date on all vaccinations & preventatives, and is microchipped. After submitting a survey, an adoption counselor will contact you to give you more information about the dog you are interested in adopting and to arrange for you to meet.
