Georgia Gives Day is coming up on November 17, 2016, and we are so excited to participate.
GGD is a 24-hour, statewide giving event that has raised more than $9 million for Georgia nonprofits in the first three years. This year, it just happens to fall on the same day as our Paws for Cocktails celebration, and is going to be an extra special party you don't want to miss, so get your tickets HERE!
Furkids wants to make history and raise $100,000 for animals in need, and you can help us! Join the hundreds of Georgians who will be donating to Furkids at www.gagivesday.org/c/GGD/a/furkids!
We’re creating a Matching Gift Fund so that your contributions will help even more animals! See the benefits of becoming a Georgia Gives Day Sponsor below:

At Furkids, we love it when our community gets involved, be it local businesses, organizations, service groups or schools. Hope Knight, an art teacher at Dolvin Elementary School, found a great way to get her students interested in helping Furkids animals through art!
It is a community service project called “PetpARTners”, and the goal, according to Knight, “is to raise awareness of the homeless pet population in our community and bring in more adopting families and donations.”
Knight’s students look at the adoptable pets on furkids.org and create beautiful portraits based on the profile photos of each pet. “We are sharing them in our school social media sites and also plan on displaying then in local businesses,” said Knight. She says she got the idea upon visiting the dog shelter for the first time over Summer Break.READ MORE >
42 cats and nine dogs are being transported to Furkids Animal Rescue & Shelters after being left in the wake Hurricane Matthew’s destruction. Many shelters in coastal areas in the Southeast have been flooded, both literally and figuratively.
Jamie Stillwachs from Brother Wolf Animal Rescue in Asheville, NC, said that a shelter in Marion County, SC was swept away by the rising river waters. “[It] doesn't look like they even have a shelter to go back to,” said Stillwachs. “All animals, staff and volunteers are holed up in an emergency center at this time.”
Samantha Shelton, Furkids founder and executive director, wants Furkids to be a safety net for the frightened families separated from their animals, the damaged shelters and their animals.
“It’s terrifying for people to be forced to flee from the dangers of a hurricane, and it’s heartbreaking for families to be separated from their animal family members,” Shelton said. “Furkids is opening our arms to...
Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity and the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority on Georgia Tech’s Campus hold a philanthropy event every year. This year they invited us to be a big part of it!
Paws for a Cause was held on April 21 on Georgia Tech’s beautiful campus. Students were able to learn about rescue animals and socialize with adoptable dogs for a $5 donation. A welcomed break for the students as they enter finals week.
The donations were split between Furkids and Breast Cancer Awareness. The students produced the event and it was a fabulous success raising more than $800 for the two causes and tons of exposure for our animals. We love it when people think outside of the box! Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have an event and you want us to partner together. What a great way to help our animals!
