My husband and I moved to Atlanta five years ago, bringing along our sweet, elderly little blind cat. Very sadly, he died a year later. That was the first time our house had been empty, cat-less, since we were first married 30+ years ago.
My husband knew I wouldn't be able to stand the emptiness for very long, so he secretly paid a visit to the Furkids rescues at the Petsmart near us. A cute little calico-tabby mix caught his eye and he knew that was the one for us. All it took was one visit to Petsmart to convince me. And of course we had to choose another one to join her, because two is always better than one.
Those two turned out to be the best choice we could have possibly made. They get along great together and they make us smile every single day. Their extreme cuteness and playfulness inspired me to photograph them endlessly, which in turn inspired me to write a children's book about how to lovingly care for cats.
Autumn and Bodie helped ease the pain of losing our cherished little blind kitty, and we're so grateful to Furkids for rescuing and finding homes for all the many, many strays ... each so deserving of a loving home.
