I started volunteering at Furkids because I love the organization and wanted to help in my small way. Also, working at the cat shelter allowed me to get my cat fix so I didn't end up on that show, Animal Hoarders 😉 The first cat I connected with was Edgar from FIV. He was always the first to greet me at the door, would purr constantly, and would follow me around while I tidied up. He was a Furkids "lifer", spending almost all of his 9 years as a shelter kitty. He was always overlooked by adopters, which was a total mystery. When he finally was adopted last year, I cried, I was so happy. When he had to come back several months later due to extreme illness, I was devastated. I thought that was his last shot at finding his forever home. I more or less made up my mind at that time that he was now my fur baby. My family took him home and he's now a completely integrated member of our family. We love him to pieces and we are pretty sure he loves us too. There are so many kitties like Edgar that should have gone home years ago. I've got my eye on a few (I'm looking at you Janae)! I can't take them all but I will never stop telling everyone I know about our wonderful kitties. Adopt today! It will change both of your lives.
