Kitten Season FAQs You may have heard that kitten season is here, but what exactly is "kitten season?" We caught up with Terri B, our resident kitten expert, to learn the basics! Q. When is kitten season?  More like when isn't kitten season! It does vary, but typically here in Georgia, kitten season lasts from late February - November, with the bulk happening from May-October.  Q. How many kittens come in during kitten season? A TwoFur is Twice the Joy Michaela, a gray, green-eyed kitty was found in the garden center of a local Home Depot in 2014. She was terrified when she arrived at Furkids and was placed in a room with another shy kitten, a brown tabby named Bella. Shy kitties are often overlooked, so the two shared the same space for several years. Over time, they gravitated toward each other, finding comfort in each other’s presence. 2019 Kitten Season: a Full-Blown Population Explosion! The phones began ringing and emails began to fly in some time in February. A few here and there, and then the number and urgency began growing in direct proportion to the warming temperatures outside – and to the number of homeless mama cats and their litters of kittens. Jethro’s Cheeky Diary: the Power of Positive Thinking When Jethro came to us as a hurricane refugee, he was a truly sad kitty. He struggled to feel at home in the shelter, and although it was comfy and he got to participate in our Purrkids program (for shy, depressed or less social kitties who need extra attention), he still seemed so sad.
