A Home of Our Own

Furkids has arrived! Months ago, we announced some big news - after 18 years, we were moving our Doraville cat shelter and headquarters to a larger campus with a healthier environment for cats and more room to grow our lifesaving programs. This beautiful 9-acre campus, adjacent to the Big Creek Greenway in south Forsyth County, is now open to adopters and visitors who want to enjoy the natural beauty of woods, gardens and waters.

The dust of the move has barely settled, but we are already busy saving lives, adopting out cats and dogs, and welcoming the community to come experience this beautiful campus; whether they're looking to adopt, want to volunteer, or simply want to meet the new neighbors.

A message from Sam Shelton,
Furkids' CEO and Founder

“We shelter approximately 200 cats, and our greatest need is to find forever homes for our feline Furkids, rather than moving them to a new shelter. Will you make room in your home for one cat who desperately needs the security of your family? If you can’t adopt, can you provide a temporary foster home for a cat?"

A Few Facts About Our Move

  • Furkids Animal Rescue and Shelters has moved their headquarters and cat shelter to a permanent location in Cumming, Georgia, effective January 1, 2020.
  • The new Furkids headquarters and cat shelter are located at 5235 Union Hill Road, and the dog shelter Sadie’s Place, remains at 1520 Union Hill Road, Alpharetta.
  • The new Furkids headquarters and cat shelter is on a wooded, 9-acre campus with ponds and waterfalls. The location offers more space and a healthier environment for Furkids animals to live; a more inviting atmosphere for potential adopters to interact with adoptable pets; a beautiful, peaceful, green space for volunteers and visitors; and more room for Furkids to expand its lifesaving programs.
  • The Furkids cat shelter is located in an existing building on the Furkids campus while the organization raises funds to build a new, state-of-the-art shelter.
  • The lush campus will include a 2,500 square foot event space that Furkids is marketing as a venue for private parties, corporate events, or offsite meetings. Such rentals will produce revenue for lifesaving programs.

How you Can Help Furkids

As we settle in, we are urging adopters to open their hearts to a Furkid. We shelter approximately 500 animals, and our greatest need is to find their forever homes. If you've been thinking about adoption, now is the time. Search adoptable cats. Search adoptable dogs. Questions about adoption? Email us.

If you can’t adopt right now, can you provide a temporary foster home, so they can experience the comforts of a real home? Furkids will provide all vetting, food and litter that you need!
