Dear Furkids Supporters, We know many of you have been anxiously awaiting the news of the Nalley Driven for a Cause vehicle contest. Our heartfelt thanks to all of you who voted for Furkids during the past several weeks! The results are now in, and while Furkids came in second place, we are pleased to announce that Nalley Automotive has decided to make a $10,000 donation to our organization as first runner up! It was an amazing effort to try to win the vehicle, and, because of your enthusiasm and support, Nalley awarded Furkids with this generous gift! Furkids cares for 600 cats and dogs — animals that we must transport to our nine adoption centers so that they can find forever, loving homes. Given this critical need, we will be putting the Nalley donation toward the purchase of a vehicle to aid us in our mission. And because Nalley’s is a cash donation, Furkids can be selective about the vehicle we purchase. Our organization doesn’t need a new ride by any means – instead, we want to select wisely with the goal of actually covering two needs:

Samantha Shelton More regarding the Nalley Driven for a Cause Campaign: The Furkids team of staff, volunteers and supporters mounted an amazing effort to win the contest over a four week period. Our campaign to promote voting was really pretty incredible: volunteers braved 100 degree heat at Atlantic Station for two days sharing our mission; staff made appearances on Fox 5 Good Day Atlanta; a story appeared in Patch.com; numerous email blasts to our databases kept people informed; teams distributed cards with voting instructions at our nine adoption centers, pet retailers, and our thrift store; hundreds of creative posts to friends, family and animal enthusiasts on Facebook and we even enlisted the support of wonderful shelters around the state and nationally. Special thanks go to organizations including Angels Among Us, the Forsyth Co. Humane Society, Good Mews, Lifeline, PAWS Atlanta, Leftover Pets, and Friends of Cobb County Animals – these and other groups shared our need and helped us secure support. What’s more, Twitter was alive and well with tweets supporting Furkids from Best Friends in Utah as well as those from Los Angeles and Atlanta celebrities. Many local Atlanta radio personalities also tweeted and shared …including Jenn Hobby and Jeff Dauler of Q100’s the Bert Show and Yvonne Monet of DAVEFM. It was a fantastic effort by so many! The winner of the first Nalley contest earlier this year won with an 800 vote total. More than 40,000 votes were cast for the two front runners in our contest. Can you say passion and drive?! We are so very proud of our efforts and realize there isn’t anything else we could have done. We had a great experience and made many new Furkids friends and supporters! |
